As I posted before, I also have problems in ARROW KEYS while using VI. In the beginning it was so weird to me. Charters like A B C D was typing by VI when I try to use ARROW KEYS. So I found a solution on the Internet which fix ARROW KEYS in VI.
So first of all you should create a file .vimrc in your home directory.
Add the following line end of .vimrc (if you have the existing .vimrc)
:set backspace=2
